Lepař Grammar School
Welcome to Lepař Grammar School, the seventh oldest (the fifth oldest still existing) grammar school on the territory of the Czech Republic.
The history of our secondary school goes back to 1624, when it was founded by Albrecht of Wallenstein in the original building of Jesuit College. Many famous Czech personalities studied or taught here – Bohuslav Balbín, František Ladislav Rieger, Antal Stašek, Josef Štefan Kubín, Jan Gebauer and many others.

Our school was given its name in honour of František Lepař, a well known philologist, teacher and headmaster and mainly the man who played the most important role in the construction of the contemporary school building at the end of the 19th century.
Lepař Grammar School provides four-year and six-year education. At present we have almost 400 students (aged 14 to 19) in 12 classes and we are considered to be one of the most prestigious secondary schools in the region. Thanks to many excellent teachers we can offer a large scale of elective subjects and friendly educative atmosphere. We put special stress on communicative abilities of students ranging from computer technology skills to good knowledge of languages which we have a big choice of – English, German, French, Spanish and Russian. That is why our graduates usually succeed in getting to universities.
Though LGS has already undergone many positive changes we are still working on improving its image and quality. Our ambition is not only to be the seventh oldest but to become (at least) the seventh best school in the country.
