Lapařovo gymnázium

History of the grammar school

1624 - Albrecht of Valdštejn founded the Jesuit College in Jičín. This school was very famous and many of Czech personalities studied here

1777 - The College was closed down. The town remained without school

1807 - The school was opened again.Grammmar school  was  created  with teaching in Germany

1819 - At first there was taught the Czech language (but only as a facultative subject)

1856 - František Lepař started to teach at the school

1871 – F.L. became a headmaster of the school

1883 - F.L. pushed through  the suggestion of the new school building, in which the school has been still nowadays

1918 - Czechoslovak state  grammar school was created

1991 - The school was given the name in honour of F. Lepař - The Lepař grammar school

The new modern sport playground which was build up few years ago. The school has also a gym and a fitness centre in the building.

 

At our school we've got six-years studies, which begins after the seventh year of basic-school and four-years studies, which are paralel with the last for years of six-years studies.

Our school today

Our school has a nice interior with places for relaxation and study. In a study room there is placed a middle-sized school-library too.

In a snack bar students have a possibility to buy something to eat or study during a break.

 

School has more than fifty computers and practically an unlimited access to the Internet, which is all the time available for students. In IT subject basics are first taught and later students can choose a seminary in „IT systems“ and „programming“.

 

Culture and sport also belong to important things and school supports both of them. We can take part in different sport competitions. Great success was first place in the recent years in a marathon-relay, republic final of which was included as a part of International Prague marathon.

 

From culture things school-paper called GYZMO should be mentioned.
